The basics of using Dimity, and how to get in touch.

Dimity is a tool for keeping and reviewing a record of your days, with ratings you choose yourself. It is not a medical service and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.

Set up your ratings

  1. In the Settings tab, under Ratings, turn on the ratings you want to use.
  2. Use the color menu to choose the color each rating uses in the weekly view and Reflection.
  3. If you need your own rating, choose "Add Rating (Up to 4)" and give it a name and color.

"Mood Before" is filled in afterward, looking back at how you felt when you started. Keep at least one rating turned on.

Add an entry

  1. In the Log tab, tap an open time slot on the 24-hour timeline.
  2. Enter an entry name, start date and time, and duration in minutes. The default duration is 60 minutes.
  3. Add any ratings, notes, or a photo, then tap Save. All of them can be left blank.

Tap a rating on an entry card to enter its value later; it saves automatically. Tap a photo to view it full screen. Tap anywhere else on the card to edit the whole entry.

Add or remove photos

  1. On the add or edit screen, choose "Add Photo".
  2. Pick one photo from the iOS photo picker.
  3. To change an attached photo choose "Replace Photo"; to remove it choose "Delete Photos".

If you close the picker without choosing, the current photo is kept. Photos are downscaled when saved, and EXIF metadata — including the location where the photo was taken — is removed.

You can check how many photos are stored, and how much space they use, in the Settings tab under Photos. "View All Photos" lets you delete one or more photos while keeping the entry name, time, ratings, and notes.

Import entries from your calendar

  1. In the Log tab, go to the day you want, then choose "Import from Calendar".
  2. The first time, allow Full Access to Calendars on the iOS permission screen.
  3. Select the events to import, review them, and save.

Only the title, start date and time, and duration are saved, as independent entries. The original events are never modified, and later edits or deletions don't affect each other. Dimity never imports events automatically. If you don't grant access, manual entry, Reflection, and PDF/CSV export all still work.

Reflect on your week

The Reflection tab shows the weekly log for the week you select. It also lists the entries with the highest rating values and the ones with the largest mood changes. For entries with photos, you can view them from the weekly calendar's entry details and from the Reflection lists. These are simply your records arranged for review — not a medical assessment or advice.

Share a PDF or CSV

  1. In the Settings tab, choose the week you want.
  2. Choose "Share PDF" or "Share CSV".
  3. Pick a destination in the standard iOS share sheet.

Once shared, manage the file in the destination you chose.

Buy or restore Home Screen Widgets

Manual entry, calendar import, Reflection, and PDF/CSV export are free. The Home Screen Widgets in-app purchase unlocks the small, medium, and large widgets — nothing else is behind it.

  1. Open "Home Screen Widgets" in the Settings tab.
  2. Review the price and contents fetched from the App Store, then purchase.
  3. If a purchase doesn't take effect, choose "Restore Purchases".

If product information can't be loaded, no fixed price is shown. Choose reload, or try again later with a network connection.

Delete your data

In the Log tab, tap an entry card (anywhere except its ratings and photo), then choose "Delete This Entry" on the edit screen. Deleting an entry also deletes its attached photo.

Deleting the app deletes all entries and photos on the device. Because entries and photos are flagged to be excluded from OS backups, they can't be restored through the app. Photos are not included in PDF or CSV exports, so keep any photos you need somewhere outside the app.

Contact

When reporting a problem, please include your iOS version, device, the screen where it happened, and what you did just before. There's no need to send sensitive content such as entry names or notes.
